Dans la premi\u00e8re quinzaine du mois de juillet 2024,<\/strong> l\u2019Agence EcoFin a rendu public le classement des ports africains les plus performants au titre de l\u2019ann\u00e9e exercice 2023. En t\u00eate de ce classement figure le port de Tanger Med du Maroc suivi du port \u00e9gyptien Port-Sa\u00efd. Dans les 52 ports africains class\u00e9s par ordre de performance, le port autonome de Cotonou vient \u00e0 la 50\u00e8me place juste avant les ports Ngoura et Cape Town de l\u2019Afrique du Sud. Les ports des pays voisins au B\u00e9nin tels que Onne et Lagos du Nigeria, et Lom\u00e9 du Togo occupent respectivement la 19\u00e8me, 20\u00e8me et 23\u00e8me position dans le classement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sur le plan mondial, le port de Cotonou occupe la 401\u00e8me place<\/strong> dans le classement tandis que celui de Lom\u00e9 tr\u00f4ne \u00e0 la 319 position. <\/strong>Dans le classement des ports \u00e0 conteneurs les plus performants en Afrique en 2021, Cotonou a occup\u00e9 la 32\u00e8me place devant Lom\u00e9 33\u00e8me sur le plan africain. Selon l\u2019Agence EcoFin, le port de Cotonou a occup\u00e9 en 2022 la 50\u00e8me place dans le classement des ports \u00e0 conteneurs les plus performants, ne laissant derri\u00e8re lui que 02 autres ports d’Afrique du Sud. En se retrouvant \u00e0 la 50\u00e8me place en 2023, Cotonou a effectu\u00e9 une chute drastique dans le classement malgr\u00e9 les nombreuses r\u00e9formes op\u00e9r\u00e9es par le r\u00e9gime du pr\u00e9sident Patrice Talon pour rendre plus comp\u00e9titif ce port.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cette situation est sans doute la cons\u00e9quence des mesures prises par le gouvernement b\u00e9ninois depuis 2016 notamment en multipliant des taxes et en compliquant les proc\u00e9dures non seulement pour acc\u00e9der \u00e0 l\u2019enceinte du port mais aussi et surtout pour l\u2019enl\u00e8vement des marchandises dont les propri\u00e9taires souffrent le martyr et essuient de grosses pertes en transitant par ce port. La fermeture des fronti\u00e8res entre le Niger et le B\u00e9nin au lendemain du coup d\u2019Etat du 26 juillet \u00e0 Niamey est venue empirer la situation de ce port qui s\u00e9duisait pourtant le monde portuaire avant l\u2019\u00e8re de la rupture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans ce classement 2023 de l\u2019Agence EcoFin, il est donc clair que le Port de Cotonou est fait partie des derniers de la classe en d\u00e9pit des r\u00e9formes et assurances que ne cessent de donner les autorit\u00e9s  b\u00e9ninoises \u00e0 son sujet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aujourd\u2019hui , apprend-on de source portuaire, les activit\u00e9s au Port de Cotonou sont au point mort, les navires se font tr\u00e8s rares pendant que le port de Lom\u00e9 est embouteill\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
