Cette d\u00e9cision intervient dans un contexte de reports successifs des \u00e9lections l\u00e9gislatives et municipales.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Le gouvernement justifie cette prorogation par la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d&rsquo;all\u00e9ger la charge financi\u00e8re du budget de l&rsquo;\u00c9tat apr\u00e8s l&rsquo;\u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle et les \u00e9lections r\u00e9gionales, et de permettre \u00e0 Elections Cameroon de mieux se pr\u00e9parer pour les futures \u00e9lections. Le projet de loi s&rsquo;appuie sur l&rsquo;article 15 (4) de la Constitution, qui autorise le chef de l&rsquo;\u00c9tat \u00e0 solliciter une prorogation du mandat des parlementaires \u00ab lorsque les circonstances l&rsquo;exigent \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Cette d\u00e9cision a suscit\u00e9 des r\u00e9actions mitig\u00e9es, certains y voyant une mesure n\u00e9cessaire pour assurer la stabilit\u00e9 politique, tandis que d&rsquo;autres la d\u00e9noncent comme un moyen de prolonger le pouvoir du parti au pouvoir, le RDPC.
